New Student Supply List

Below, you will find a list of equipment necessary to thrive as a pilot. The equipment you purchase will be used throughout your aviation career, thus we recommend these high-quality options for longevity, reliability, and performance.

• Sporty's Learn To Fly Course - Private Pilot Ground School
• Headset: Lightspeed Sierra, Bose A30, and David Clarke H10-13.4 are popular choices. We recommend noise cancelling. This will be your most important item, so invest here above everywhere else.
• Logbook: Paper* or electronic (ForeFlight, Garmin Pilot, MyFlightBook, etc.)
• iPad (2021 or newer recommended)
• ForeFlight (Starter or Essential Subscription) or Garmin Pilot (Standard Plan)
• FAR AIM: Book* or app. Get the FAR AIM PPLb Tabs if you get the paper book.
• Foggles
• San Antonio Paper Sectional Chart (can also get Houston and/or DFW if you want to plan flights toward those destinations)
• Chart Plotter
• E6B: Electronic (calculator style) or iPad app. The written exam will have a virtual CX3, or you can bring your own electronic E6B (not an app!)
• Flashlight w/ red or green filter
